Introducing the Hammered styles, inspired by the Italian artist Gio Pomodoro. During Sophie’s upbringing on Sweden’s west coast, her grandmother gave her a unique bracelet made by Gio Pomodoro who during the 1960s developed several series of sculptures, which explored a range of abstract shapes, usually with smooth undulating surfaces. In his later career, Pomodoro regularly received public commissions and produced a number of large outdoor structures. Pomodoro’s abstract inventiveness paired with rich Italian colours and a profound fondness for the versatility of shapes led Sophie to the new SS18 collection.

” I love the interesting and graceful shapes of Gio Pomodoro’s metal sculptures, it makes the metal feel soft and vivid. This avant garde period had so many fantastic artists and the geometric shapes and contrasts makes this period very dynamic”, says Sophie Gyllenhammar Mattsson.
