AW17 New Deco
The Autumn/winter 2017 collection is inspired by the straight geometric lines and symmetry from the Art Deco period (1920-1939) combined with the natural forms and structures, particularly the curvy lines of plants and flowers from the
Art Nouveau period (1890-1910).
” I think these periods contains so many fascinating elements in shapes and patterns. Both the geometry shapes in Art Deco and the romance and naturalism of Art Nouveau is compelling. I used rough stones such as pyrite, a metallic stone that I love, and also pink opal which has colours that are reflected from these periods” says the designer Sophie Gyllenhammar Mattsson.
The collection shows the roughness of gemstones inspired by marble floors in fascinating patterns and colours. Pyramids, hands and the natural shape of leaves are also essential in the collection. The colour palette is metal colours, pinky grey and black.
